A leaning cable variation of the lateral raise for the lateral deltoids. The body angle changes the line of resistance compared with an upright cable lateral raise.
Set the cable machine to the lowest setting and attach a single handle.
Stand sideways to the machine, grasping the handle with the hand furthest from the machine.
Step away from the machine and lean slightly towards it, maintaining a stable stance.
With a slight bend in your elbow, raise your arm laterally until it is parallel to the floor.
Pause briefly at the top of the movement, then slowly lower the handle back to the starting position.
Repeat for the desired number of repetitions and switch sides.
Keep your core engaged to maintain stability throughout the exercise.
Avoid using momentum; focus on controlled movements for maximum muscle activation.
Maintain a slight bend in your elbow to reduce stress on the joint.
Ensure your shoulder does not shrug upwards during the lift; keep it down and relaxed.
Breathe out as you lift the weight and inhale as you lower it back down.
Losing the supported lean and using the torso to swing the arm.
Shrugging the shoulder instead of isolating the lateral deltoid.
Using a load that prevents a controlled return to the start.
