Beginner exercises

The easiest place to start: moves that are simple to learn, done with bodyweight or light load, for legs, abs, glutes and the rest of the body. Early on, a few exercises done well beat a long list — the technique you build now is what later carries heavier weight. Progress when the reps feel easy and the last one looks like the first. Once these feel routine, the intermediate hub is the next step.

  • Neck Side Stretch

Neck Side Stretch is a gentle mobility exercise for the lateral structures of the neck. It is used to improve comfortable side-bending range and reduce a feeling of stiffness around the neck and upper shoulder area.

  • Lying EZ-Bar Triceps Extension

The Lying EZ-Bar Triceps Extension, also known as the 'Skull Crusher', is an isolation exercise targeting the triceps brachii. It primarily engages the long head of the triceps, providing effective muscle growth and strength development. This exercise is performed lying on a flat bench while using an EZ-bar, which reduces stress on the wrists compared to a straight bar.

  • Box step-up

The box step-up is a lower body exercise that primarily targets the quadriceps, hamstrings, and glutes. It involves stepping onto an elevated platform with one foot and then bringing the other foot up to stand fully on the box before stepping back down. This exercise improves balance, coordination, and unilateral leg strength.

  • One-Arm Chest Supported Row Machine

The Single Arm Chest Supported Row Machine is a strength training exercise that targets the upper back muscles, particularly the latissimus dorsi, rhomboids, and trapezius. This exercise involves using a machine with a chest pad for support, allowing for isolated rowing movements with one arm at a time. It helps improve muscle balance and coordination while minimizing strain on the lower back.

  • Bent Over Dumbbell Lateral Raise

Bent-over lateral raises target the posterior deltoids, upper back, and trapezius muscles. This exercise is performed by bending at the hips with a neutral spine and lifting weights to the side, focusing on shoulder abduction.

  • Machine Belt Squat

The Machine Belt Squat is a lower body exercise that targets the quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes, and calves. It uses a specialized machine that allows for squatting with reduced spinal load by placing the weight around the hips instead of on the shoulders. This exercise is ideal for those looking to build leg strength while minimizing stress on the lower back.

  • One-Arm Straight-Arm Cable Lat Pulldown

The Straight One Arm Cable Pulldown targets the latissimus dorsi, teres major, and other muscles of the back. This exercise is performed using a cable machine with a single handle attachment, allowing for unilateral training and improved muscle symmetry.

  • Single-Leg Calf Raise with Dumbbell

Single-Leg Raises with Dumbbell is an exercise targeting the lower abdominal muscles and hip flexors. It involves raising one leg at a time while holding a dumbbell between the feet, providing resistance to enhance muscle engagement and strength.

  • Barbell Step-Up (Foot on Bench Start)

Barbell Step-Up (Foot on Bench Start) is a lower-body strength exercise with a barbell across the upper back and the working foot already supported on a bench. The supported foot stays on the bench between repetitions, distinguishing it from the floor-start variation. The quadriceps and glutes drive the ascent, while the trunk and pelvis control balance.

  • One-Arm Cable Front Raise

The One-Arm Cable Front Raise is an isolation exercise targeting the anterior deltoid muscle. It involves lifting a cable handle in front of the body using one arm, which helps in developing shoulder strength and stability. This exercise is performed using a cable machine, allowing for constant tension throughout the movement.

  • Rope Straight-Arm Lat Pulldown

The Standing Cable Straight Arm Pulldown is an isolation exercise targeting the latissimus dorsi muscles. It involves pulling a cable bar down with straight arms from shoulder height to the thighs, engaging the back and core muscles. This exercise helps in developing back width and improving shoulder stability.
